ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani has refused to have additional protocol and asked the Interior Ministry not to impose restrictions on commuters during his passage on a certain road.
The chief justice expressed the view that the route-restrictions during passage of a dignitary create problems for the commuters. Moreover, he has also refused to take the services of the Rangers and Elite Force personnel though the Interior Ministry offered them to him.
Conversely, former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has demanded of the federal government to provide him foolproof security and a bulletproof vehicle.Sources said that the Ministry of Interior wrote a letter to the Cabinet Division to ensure former CJ’s security. The ministry has also issued directives to IG Islamabad in this regard.
Meanwhile, former Chief Justice Iftikhar’s protocol officer, Abdul Hameed Chaudhry has been appointed as Deputy Director Human Rights Cell at the Supreme Court.Using his discretionary powers, the former chief justice had promoted him to the rank of protocol officer, a grade-19 post.
But, just two days after his retirement, the officer was transferred to the post of Deputy Director Human Rights Cell.Our correspondent adds from Lahore: Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani after assuming the charge of his office arrived in Lahore Friday.The chief justice is likely to spend a busy day in the city today (Saturday) and Sunday.
